Yorkville SA315S Review: High-Output Bass for Clubs, Festivals, and Live Sound

When a live sound system needs more than basic low-frequency support, choosing the right subwoofer becomes essential. DJs, touring professionals, and event production teams need bass that can keep up with demanding performances without making their overall PA setup unnecessarily complicated. The Yorkville SA315S powered subwoofer is designed for exactly this type of professional application, combining three 15-inch woofers, substantial power handling, and a bass reflex enclosure in one active cabinet.

Part of Yorkville Sound's Synergy Array Series, the SA315S offers an interesting option for professionals building high-output sound systems for clubs, festivals, theaters, and larger live events.

What Makes the Yorkville SA315S Powered Subwoofer Different?

The Yorkville Synergy SA315S is an active bass reflex subwoofer engineered to deliver powerful low-frequency reproduction. It features 6,500 watts of program power and 13,000 watts of peak power, making it a serious consideration for professional sound reinforcement applications.

Its design revolves around three 15-inch low-frequency woofers, each featuring a 3-inch voice coil. This configuration provides a dedicated low-frequency foundation for compatible full-range PA speakers.

One particularly interesting aspect is its position within the Synergy Array ecosystem. Yorkville designed the SA315S to work alongside the SA153 full-range powered cabinet, creating a scalable point-source sound system for different venue requirements.

Key Features and Benefits for Professional Audio

1. Three 15-Inch Woofers for Powerful Low Frequencies

The SA315S uses three 15-inch ceramic woofers with 3-inch voice coils.

For DJs and live performers, this driver configuration provides dedicated low-frequency reproduction that complements the midrange and high-frequency output of full-range loudspeakers.

The result is a subwoofer designed for demanding music playback and professional live sound applications.

2. 6,500W Program Power and 13,000W Peak Power

Power capability is an important consideration when selecting a professional PA subwoofer.

With 6,500 watts of program power and 13,000 watts of peak power, the SA315S is built for high-output sound reinforcement. Its published maximum SPL reaches 130 dB continuous and 136 dB peak.

These specifications make it worth considering for production environments where substantial low-frequency output is required.

3. Bass Reflex Cabinet Design

The bass reflex enclosure is another important part of the SA315S design.

Its frequency response is specified at 31 Hz–100 Hz (±3 dB), giving sound professionals a dedicated low-frequency range for supporting full-range speakers.

The 100 Hz low-pass crossover specification also helps define its intended role within a properly configured PA system.

4. Professional Rigging and Cabinet Construction

The SA315S features a multi-ply 15 mm birch plywood enclosure, Rail and Lockbar rigging hardware, and interlocking UHMW stacking feet.

These are valuable design considerations for professional production environments where secure cabinet positioning and system configuration matter.

The removable locking powerCON TRUE1 input and loop-through output are also practical features for professional power connections.

Where Can You Use the Yorkville SA315S?

The SA315S is suited to several professional sound applications:

• DJs and Nightclubs: Add dedicated low-frequency reinforcement to high-output DJ sound systems.
• Outdoor Festivals: Build a scalable PA configuration for large music events.
• Live Bands: Support bass-heavy musical performances and full-range speaker systems.
• Theaters and Venues: Consider it for professional installations requiring substantial low-frequency output.
• Touring Productions: Its integrated rigging system makes it relevant to appropriately planned touring configurations.

Who Should Consider Buying This Subwoofer?

The Yorkville SA315S is particularly relevant for professional audio rental companies, experienced sound engineers, touring production teams, nightclub operators, and event production businesses.

However, its substantial size and 236-pound weight make planning important. This is not a typical lightweight portable PA subwoofer for occasional small gatherings.

Professionals should also consider the required transportation, handling equipment, power distribution, rigging arrangements, and compatible full-range speakers before purchasing.

Building a Complete Yorkville Synergy Sound System

For buyers interested in the Synergy ecosystem, pairing the SA315S with the Yorkville SA153 full-range powered speaker is a natural starting point.

Yorkville also offers other Synergy subwoofer options, including the SA218S and SA221S, for professionals exploring different low-frequency system configurations.
