Yorkville PS18S Powered Subwoofer: Is Your PA System Missing Powerful Bass?

Your speakers sound clear, your music is playing, and your audience is ready. But something is missing—the deep, powerful bass that makes live music and DJ performances feel exciting.

For DJs, musicians, and event organizers, weak low-frequency sound can make even a well-planned performance feel less energetic.

The Yorkville PS18S Powered Subwoofer is designed to address that challenge. With an 18-inch woofer, 2,400 watts of peak power, and a rugged cabinet, this active subwoofer brings serious low-frequency support to professional PA systems.

But what makes it worth considering for your setup?

What Makes the Yorkville PS18S Different?

The Yorkville PS18S Parasource Series Powered Subwoofer is an 18-inch active PA subwoofer designed for mobile sound systems and venue installations.

As the largest and most powerful subwoofer in Yorkville's Parasource series, it delivers 1,200 watts of program power and 2,400 watts of peak power.

Its built-in Class D amplifier eliminates the need for a separate external power amplifier.

This makes it a practical option for professionals who want substantial bass reinforcement without adding unnecessary amplification equipment.

Key Features That Make a Difference

1. Powerful 18-Inch Woofer for Stronger Bass

The PS18S features an 18-inch woofer with a 4-inch voice coil.

Its bass reflex enclosure supports low-frequency reproduction, while its specified frequency response of 45 Hz to 100 Hz helps reinforce bass-heavy music and live instruments.

For DJs playing dance music or bands performing with bass guitars and kick drums, this additional low-end support can make the sound feel fuller.

2. High Output for Demanding Performances

With a maximum peak sound pressure level of 135 dB and a continuous rating of 129 dB, the Yorkville PS18S offers impressive output capability.

This is especially useful for professional DJ setups, live performances, and venues where bass needs to remain noticeable alongside full-range speakers.

3. Flexible Connections for PA Systems

One particularly useful feature is its connection flexibility.

The subwoofer includes:

• XLR line-level input and link output.
• 1/4-inch TRS connections.
• Support for line-level or speaker-level signals.
• Output level adjustment and signal-status indicators.

These features make integrating the PS18S into different professional sound systems more convenient.

4. Durable Construction for Mobile Professionals

Transporting sound equipment between events can be demanding.

The PS18S uses a solid 15 mm birch cabinet, a powder-coated steel grille, and four integrated metal handles.

Its sturdy construction is a welcome advantage for mobile DJs, rental companies, and touring musicians who regularly move their equipment.

Where Can You Use the Yorkville PS18S?

The Yorkville PS18S Powered Subwoofer is suited to several professional applications.

Mobile DJ Events: Add low-frequency impact to weddings, private parties, and dance-focused performances.

Live Music Venues: Reinforce kick drums, bass guitars, and other low-frequency instruments during performances.

Churches and Worship Events: Support contemporary worship music where additional bass reinforcement is needed.

Event Production: Expand the low-frequency capabilities of PA systems used for corporate celebrations and entertainment events.

Small to Medium Venues: Provide substantial bass support without requiring a larger subwoofer system.

What Should You Consider Before Buying?

Before purchasing an 18-inch powered subwoofer, consider your venue size, transportation requirements, and existing speakers.

The PS18S weighs approximately 111 pounds, so moving it requires planning.

It also features a fixed 100 Hz crossover and an integrated pole-mount adapter.

Yorkville specifically recommends pairing it with the PS15P full-range speaker, although the subwoofer can work with other suitable top speakers.

For the best results, confirm your signal connections, speaker configuration, and available placement space before installation.
